Georgina Public Libraries computers are available free of charge to all library card holders. Visitors to Georgina may ask at the Circulation Desk to be assigned a temporary visitor pass. For complete Information see the library's official policy Public Access to Computers and Internet.
Patrons are entitled to a maximum of three 30 minute sessions per day; however, if demand is low, each session will be automatically extended. Black & white printing is available, at a cost of $0.25 per sheet.
Blank floppy diskettes and CD-Rs are available for purchase from the Circulation Desk. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own USB drives for data storage. The Library is not responsible for data lost due to faulty diskettes or discs.
Library computers are equipped with:
- Broadband Internet
- Direct access to all Georgina Public Libraries eResources.
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Office Accessories (Photo editor, Clip organizer etc.)
- Windows Media Player
- Computers have USB ports for exterior storage. Some computers have CD-R drives.
- Kids computers also feature several CD-ROM games. Selection varies by branch.
Children 0-15 years of age must have a signed Computer Use Permission form on record at the library before accessing public computers without parental supervision. Unsupervised access is open to all patrons age 16 years of age and older. Download the permission form here.
Discovery Centres, non-Internet computers with pre-loaded children's literacy games are available at each branch.
Children 0-10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while in the Library
Free WIFI access is available at all 3 branches of the Library. Please note that Library staff are not trained to help patrons using non-library computers. WIFI logon passwords are assigned at the Circulation Desk, please see staff for details.
All WIFI users must agree to abide by the Library's User Terms of Service.
Basic computer "literacy" classes are offered free of charge to Georgina Public Library card holders throughout the year. Classes aim to provide basic computer instruction on the applications available through the library. Topics and class locations may change periodically due to the interest and experience level of the class.
